This is a what is to become a Windows GUI for the commercial product Arkeia Network Backup. Arkeia is primarily Linux only tool, but in a number of environments, Arkeia needs a Windows GUI to administrate the backup server. Arkeia currently does not have this. Thus this project will be to complete a full Windows GUI for all of the Arkeia plugins and the ANB itself.
Arkeia provides most of it's command line tools on both Windows and Linux, using mostly the commands for each plugin and the command line administration tool arkc.
Since this is a large project to complete, the development model will be broken into three parts.
A) Creation of a plugin GUI, which currently have no GUI and are only command line
B) Creation of a full Arkeia GUI
C) Integration of the two panels
At some point it may be possible to reverse engineer the communication protocol that is used for Arkeia and it's clients, but that is a possibility.
For the actual development, this project will use the Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition. As this is "free" software for development, it should allow almost anyone with minimal coding skills to quickly develop the GUI for his/her users. If this project falls in disrepair, once the main job of creating GUI is done, it should be an easy matter of updating the GUI to the most recent version of Arkeia.

This project is in a very early alpha stage. Currently there are no download. I have uploaded my current CVS. Obviously it is very early in development. I am very new to sourceforge, so if anyone has any pointers, I would be very interested.
